Pine Island is located on Florida's Gulf Coast and is connected by a modern drawbridge to Cape Coral and Ft. Myers, Florida. It's protected by the barrier islands of Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva and Cayo Costa.
Pine Island does not have large cities, smog, traffic jams, stoplights or masses of tourists. It's a rural tropical island but still has a modern shopping center containing a Winn Dixie grocery, an Eckerd's Drug Store, Domino's Pizza, restaurants, travel agency, liquor store and a beauty shop. Island also has a Dairy Queen and a Subway as well as many charter boats for fishing and a ferry to Cayo Costa State Park.
